A "D"ay at the MET
Looking for a "D" photo I had not noticed this previously.
HERCULES THE ARCHER - by Antoine Bourdelle, was exclusively made as a singly copy in gilt-bronze in April 1909 commissioned by philanthropist Gabriel Thomas. For the original creation Bourdelle asked his friend, a military man and accomplished sportsman to pose for him.
In 1914, Thomas agreed to end his exclusivity and Bourdelle was allowed to make further copies, which has resulted in a number of versions in museums and cities world-wide.
It is an amazing sculpture and beautiful with Central Park in the background.
