Mt. Rainer rising in the background
A massive stratovolcano located 54 miles SE of Seattle. 2 days into our visit to Seattle we still had not seen Mt. Rainer, until we were returning from Bainbridge Island. It looked at if it were "floating" in the sky, 14,410 feet above sea level! I was so excited to have gotten several photos - it is so magnificently beautiful.
Leaving Bainbridge Island
The sun was getting low and we had spent a wonderful afternoon on Bainbridge Island.
Although most think of artichokes as food, if left unharvested, artichoke buds form large pink or purple thistle-like flowers. The flowers, while not edible, have beautiful color and texture. I love them!
