Eyeshots > Windmill in disrepair in Palma de Mallorca.
One of the few hundred wooden-vaned 'traditional' windmills in Palma that were used for grinding grains. It had been a restaurant for a short period - and renovations appeared to be starting during our Holiday.
Eyeshots > The 'traditional' wooden-vaned windmills, some dating back to the 17th century.
Once an essential part of Mallorcan life, windmills were used to pump water and grind grain - now they are considered part of Majorca's heritage. A project has been developed on the island to restore, preserve and & protect them.
Eyeshots > Watercolor reflection
Another shot from my trip to Watson Lake, Prescott, AZ. Been so very hot here and so very busy at work - hoping for a cool trip somewhere soon!
Eyeshots > The Ducklings
I almost stepped on these baby ducks walking along the shores of Watson Lake. It was starting to get cool and the little black duck was snuggling up for warmth. So cute!
Eyeshots > Prescott Riparian Preserve
A little Cottonwood Tree Lore: The Omaha Indian tribes (where I am from) believed that the air was never so still that the leaves of a Cottonwood tree were not in motion, even on a hot, still summer afternoon you can hear the gentle rustle of the leaves - at night as well, they rattle and whisper when all else is still.
Well, still no birds - but fabulous reflections.
Eyeshots > Watercolors
The cottontails were gone, but the dark quality of the reflections remind me of Monet's Garden at Giverny.
Eyeshots > Watson Lake at Sunset
I wanted to try a few long exposure shots - I love the look. Took several shots as the sun sunk behind the mountains to the west - but this was the best. Need more practice!
Eyeshots > Dried Thistle
After seeing very little water at the Prescott Riparian Preserve I was feeling a little disappointed. Then I spotted this Thistle - the area was quite shaded and the cottonwood tree branches kept the sun fading in and out. The light was amazing - this is almost SOOC - brought down the brightness a little from a blast of sunlight. I immediately thought the entire trip was worth it - even if I saw no birds!
Eyeshots > "Bridge Over NO Water". Headed north to Prescott to see water fowl at the Prescott Riparian Preserve near Watson Lake. Started hiking down into the Preserve and thought, oh no - there will be no water....or birds. Turned out to be a beautiful day. More to come...
Eyeshots > Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Point Loma, San Diego, CA
In Honor of all who have kept us free!
Eyeshots > The Peony, flower of riches & honor, shot in Estes Park, CO, after a rain shower.

Crazy busy at work so I picked something from the "archives" in honor of Memorial Weekend.
Eyeshots > Saturday project. My husband decided to repaint the wrought iron grill work on our front courtyard and I shaped up the agave cactus! Things look fabulous!
Eyeshots > Anna's Hummingbird - at our backyard feeder. 5-19-13
We call our back courtyard the hummingbird highway. These beautiful little creatures flit from one yard to another chattering & moving at the speed of light! I have made numerous attempts to capture one at our feeder and finally today I met with success!
I actually hid under our grapefruit tree with tripod and a cloth over my head and the camera. It was pretty shady so I put on the fill flash but it actually had to flash through the cloth. The noise of the camera and flash caused the little bird to stop and look around - giving me an opportunity to catch a crisp photo. (View larger to see the beautiful detail of the red iridescent throat feathers)
Great day for photography!
Eyeshots > Swans in the King's Garden. I tried for several days to take a photo of the swans in the garden surrounding the Cathedral (La Seu) in Palma. I love the color of the water and the little water drip from its bill.
Eyeshots > CHARACTER - "The combination of qualities or features that distinguishes one person from another."
I decided to venture out and try photographing people and what better place than the courtyard of the Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma in Mallorca. He might have been homeless, but he didn't have a cup out like the others. But the lines of his face and his clothing caught my eye.
